The UK spec 1600TE Fastback had carpet, and waist trim, but otherwise was like the 'A' model Variant - no bumper rubbers or door pockets, and aluminium painted vent wing windows. In the UK, the importers were not VW, and specified the base model with the 'extras' they believed would bring the best profit. I expect Norway was somewhat similar - even if the importer was VW itself (I've no idea if they were). > The buttons are screw head covers, I have these in my 73 as well. Are you sure they're not plastic buttons that pop into 6mm holes and held by springy legs? >The carpet is worn and faded, what do you mean with "wrap-around vinyl"? The L spec had the 'hardboard' panels covered with textured vinyl with heat-welded seams and edges glued on the rear face, while the lower spec just had the panels cut out of board pre-bonded with a thin vinyl layer (which detaches as time goes on).
