I don't think NOS has anything to do with it. These parts never lasted all that 
long. I've been replacing them every 3-4 years since day one. I think the 
problem is that the hose is forced to curve a bit, and the stress from this 
causes the problem. I suspect that really hot, or really cold weather are both 
hard on it as well.

A better repro could be made from an old one which already has that curve in 
it. Even if it is cracked, a mold could be made from it and the cracks fixed in 
the mold.
