I know that's the VW service interval, but I find that as long as the boots are okay and the bolts are tight they will be fine. I just leave them alone. BTW, I find that the boots (at least the OE ones) will last forever UNLESS something rubs on them. The most common rubbing culprits are mis-routed wires or broken heater cables that can hang down and rub on the spinning boots. Almost every IRS car I have ever bought or worked on had a problem here with something that had been taken apart and not put back quite right. A wire that seems to be just fine there now will eventually rub against the boot and rather quickly eat its way thru. It's a LOT easier to take the time to get the wires right rather than have to replace a boot later, AND reroute the wire. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
