Russ?? > There was no such thing as a "warranty replacement engine". We always had to repair the old one, no matter the cost. There were factory rebuilt engines, but we were not allowed to install them under warranty. A factory rebuilt engine should have the original engine number "routered" out and the shop was supposed to stamp the customers old engine number on. There was usually an "X" stamped in that area too. Someplace on the top of the case there would be the letters "KD" inked on also. This "AC" number, I do not know what it is. I don't remember ever seeing one before. BTW, I don't think VW ever used periods in any of their part numbers. Always just spaces. -- Russ Wolfe '66 FB MT '71 FB AT '65 Bug (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
