T-1, T-2, and T-3 cases just differed in where they bored certain holes, and where they installed certain studs. They all got the same case if it was replaced. The replacement case came with a kit for the car model you were installing it in. The only number that really matters is, the engine serial number that is stamped into the case near the distributor. As for your heads, in 30 years, there is a good chance that the heads have been replaced at least once. And also, the numbers you are looking at on the heads is probably just a casting number also. The heads do not have a serial number. -- Russ Wolfe '66 FB MT '71 FB AT '65 Bug (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
