I'm hoping this is not a bad thing. I'm not sure. 68-9 got the 001s while everything switched over to the 007s in '70. At that time the 007s also became the proper replacement for the 68-9s. There was always the rumor that the 007s were either richer or leaner (depending on the rumor) than the 001s, but I've never seen anything I trusted on this. I don't think VW ever said that you needed to replace all 4 if you changed to 007s, so I suspect there is really no difference in fuel delivery, which leads to the question of what WAS the difference? I don't know. I've taken both kinds apart and the internal construction is the same. If there's a difference, it's pretty subtle. Of course it might still be a slight change in fuel delivery, which would WOULD be a very subtle change. Because I've never been sure, I've always tried to stick to one or the other on a given engine, just to be safe. I've run both pre 70 and post 70 engines on both styles, however, and they both seem to work well. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
