How about the final drive (differential) fluid? Do you realize that's separate? The fill plug is above and ahead of the RHS output shaft. It takes GL-5 gear oil, of a viscosity appropriate to your climate. If the fluid is low, I recommend that you drain it first and then refill with new fluid. You can examine what comes out with the old fluid as a check on the condition of the final drive. Don't forget to clean the metal grit off the magnet in the drain plug. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
