Yes, it could fall in there, but you would feel/hear it. I would look around some more. Check by the CV joints, near the other end of the dipstick tube. below the starter. Otherwise I would pull the engine and find it. :=( BTW, if you have to pull the engine, you only have 3 bolts to remove.
