That's not entirely true. It was badged as Porsche *and* Volkswagen by 
means of having a VW logo close to the Porsche 914 scripts in the rear. 
At least this was the case for the German market, and I doubt that 
would be different in other European countries. After all, having as 
much Porsche badging on the car as possible would immediately lend it 
more cachet.
