Ok, so mid-eighties, more than a decade after the end of production of the
Fastback.
As time goes on, this becomes really fascinating. Is the rack
unused ("New")? Looks like it. Is it old? Sure, a couple of decades.
Is it "period"? Well, not really -- at least not the same period as the
'66-'73 Fastback run.
I stuck a pair of German, NOS, 1980s Fuch-ish hubcaps on my 1969
Beetle. Unavailable a newly-manufactured parts today? Yeah. Rare? I
saw one beat-up set on thesamba for sale in the last year, so, sure, rare.
Original? Period? Hmmm....
How about PNOS (period NOS) vs. LNOS (later NOS)? I'm sure it'll
never stick, but the distinction becomes more and more relevant.
