I can't remember. Are we talking about the pungent smell of mouse pee here?

I think it's unlikely to be the seat padding, unless there are signs of damage. 
What I found was that it still took a few years for the smell to leave 
completely, even after I cleaned out the jugs under the back seat.

Next summer you might try taking the jugs and the carpet all out for a few 
days, just to see if the car then seems to smell much better.
