That's quite a high mileage from a  UK point of view - not much constant 55 mph
driving in the UK, or in the 'States these days either.  Stop-start driving up
and down through the gears wears out an engine quicker.
I don't think too many UK engines were rebuilt by VW garages - they mostly used
the re-manufactured exchange service.
