I was upset too when I got quoted $1200 from VW to replace the clutch on my
95 Jetta.  I shopped it around, but still ended up paying close to $700, and
that is with a high cost of living area like the CA Bay Area.

That is NOT reasonable!  Find another place.  It should be less than $900,
easy.
