Re: [T3] sac. bug-o-rama
<x-flowed>alex,
thats for the kind words! toby and i rolled into myrtle creek at 3:00am
after having a type 3 dinner and leaving Sac at 7ish... 8 hours for 412
miles sucked, but we had an excuse! the gex motor was running warm the
whole time (found it to be missing the lower t3 cylinder tins: remember,
this was a 'turnkey' motor), but it managed keep moving along... until
just north of redding. we hit rain! a hot motors best friend, i was
excited, and then the car started runnning like CRAP! we pulled over to
let things cool a bit, hoped to just get to the next town and take a
long wait. well anyway, after a few minutes in the mist, we started
back up, and then toby's car had sympathy pains or something and the
electrical shut down. they, just as quickly powered back up and gave
him no other issues. well, back to the running like crap issue. engine
is cooler but...no change, so we pulled off under a lit freeway
underpass and i started pulling the carb jets. BINGO!!! one of my main
jets had a piece of rubber in it... time for new fuel line. after
addressing that issue, the car ran great! still a bit warm, but it
powered up all the hills, mountains and passes. the trip started to
slow again as we were both bleary-eyed from a long day, big breakfast
for dinner (hey hal, how did the shake and gravey sit?) and the miles
and miles of miles and miles... it was great to see several berg
cruisers; several invasion participants; the vw paradise dragster do a
6.69 at 200mph completely out of the groove; and the doug harvey turbo
fastback make an 89 second, 168mph pass down the 1/4 mile! toby just
woke from the dead, and after a bit of checking his car over he will
probably finish the last 200 miles of his trek.
