	One thing I know for sure -- 1971 is my favorite model year for
Types I, II, *and* III (at least for U.S. models) when it comes to issues
of practicality, economy, cost of ownership, etc.  Generally speaking, the
main safety implementations have been made by then (3-point belts with
good mounts, high back seats, collapsing steering columns, dual circuit
brakes)... there are 1600cc engines all 'round, not de-tuned and smogged
up... no exotic/rare/$$ "late" parts (Type IV engines, shock absorbing
bumpers, etc.)...

	I like the styling of the eariler models, and I too have dreams of
a Type IV engine, but I've always thought there was something special
about the 1971 line-up.
