[T3] Help with a headliner...

Morning again, it seems that I've gone from talking about what I'm going
to do when my car is out of the shop, to what am I going to do with this
next little crisis. After 18 months of down time, all my little gremlins
have come home to roost, so to speak. Last week, scraper clips, this
week- headliners! I have the late model Notch and when the old crappy
headliner was removed, I saved the bows and the 12 little spring/hooks
on the end of each bow. I can't tell if the headliner was original or
not, but it was off white, and not perforated but it did have holes
printed on it. The thing is, the spring/hooks shaped like this :
____
,////// ] ,clip into the channel over the windows while
the bows fit into the space just under the roof. It seems to me that
they provide more of an arch to the headliner to make it look fuller.
Could be wrong, don't know how they quite function, but I do know that
being springs, they do travel far when pushed too far (I'll try to post
some pics in the AM, this is probably too oblique a description without
them). AAR, can anyone say if these little buggers are
stock-aftermarket-needed or what? Towards that end, anyone know of a
good site for a little instruction of headliner replacement? I have a
Bug tutorial and one for a Square, neither of which are too helpful.
Otherwise, I'll just continue with the old try, try again routine.
Thanks again,
David Walters
