Well - I made the 750 mile tow from Portland OR to Fresno CA without a problem.. The 67 type 1 that was stuck in 3rd gear towed along happy as a clam, I fixed the Clutch pedal to the floor to disengaged the motor (as in a previous e-mail) and away we went. I had borrowed my father-in laws Ford Taurus wagon..pulled up the mountains at 65-70 no problems.. On the trip I have a few "VW stops" , that i always make..chat with a few locals in the town ...look for any "new T3's" in the area, and then carry on towards Fresno. This stop netted me an other set of OEM Inner window scrapers (with clips) , Early 6 volt engine tine ( I think 64-65) and 1 bumper over rider with a perfect rubber impact strip (early models-not the big late model ones) ..not to bad of a find..but then I start to speak with a local guy who tells me of a t3 group "over them hills"....all early models..he has been storing them for quite awhile , needless to say I told him they were sold! Here is a quick run down...67 square, 67 fasty sun roof car with side markers, 68 fasty and a 64 square. Unfortunately I was unable to follow him home to see them as I was really behind schedule...On my return trip home to Portland I again tried to contact him, but he was heading out for the day..but assured me the cars are mine..I just need to get down there with 4 tailers..Looks like another road trip is in the future... Also while i was heading South....Brook was heading North...I had found a 64 sunroof "S" Notch..and he had to have it... I have only seen photos but the car looks very promising and was a driver to boot!
