Hi all,

These two miscellaneous questions are unconnected but I couldn't see much
point making two threads out of them.

1) Both the Hayes and Bentley manuals show "late-model" Type 3 steering
columns with a three-spoke steering wheel. I've never seen any pictures of
this kind of steering wheel in a car. Were they ever actually manufactured
this way?

Now that you mention it, I've never noticed the fact that the wheel is a three-spoke wheel, and I cant say that I've seen that wheel before. I had a look in my 2 other air-cooled Haynes manuals (VW 1200 and VW1300/1500), but none of them uses the same illustrations, even though they could very well have done so. Neither did the Haynes Golf 1 manual I have here.

This could still be just an illustration that Haynes got from VW and that this wheels really was used in some different model, and not specifically be for a type 3.

What was
the difference between the engines? Did the 45HP 1600cc engine have a single
carb?

The 45 hp version is a single carb 1500 engine, while, as you know, the 54 hp version is the dual carb 1600.
