It is the kick down switch for passing gear in the automatic. It should have a wire coming from the #15 terminal on the coil, thru a fuse to one of the terminals on the switch. The other side of the switch goes to the automatic trans under the car following the dip stick tube to a terminal on the near the dip stick tube. The second photo is of the early style cold start valve.
