Hummm... Well.. 1st-----bumpers/fenders/elec items/ doors/gas tank/seats....the easy stuff. 2-------motor / tranny 3--------glass 4-------undo pan ...remove body- 5-------Front clip (if salvageable) / Rear apron 6------cut off roof, at the posts..[.we keep this as it great sheet metal] 7-----If the heater channels are good we take those, we found if you cut just into the front fender well, that they come out really clean..the same for the back cut into the frame[?] of the body about 6 inches and down. That is a great section for someone to use. We have also taken the dash sections and the fresh air vent under the front window.. Once the channels are out you have a front and rear section we usually cut them in half (as if you cutting down the center)..This will leave you 4 large sections that most scrap yards will take with no problem. If the pan is a goner we strip it of the front and rear suspension and cut it in half , but if the pan is good we will keep the pan sections(but still toss the tunnel) We have tried to keep as must of it as possible...During the dismantling there are 2 large coffee cans that all bolts / nuts / "whatcamacall it" and gizmos go into ...(Where else are you going to find that Metric bolt at 5pm on a sunday night?) We let the DDB members that are present have "dibs" on what is needed for they own projects first. The rest is stashed in the my garage rafters/back yard/ basement...I think we have gotten pretty good at this each time we do this the scrap pile is smaller and smaller...I hope that means we are using/keeping more parts. If ya want since we have another car (69 fastback) still to go we could document the process...We have this down to a 2 day window from start to finish It is a done deal in 2 days.. whew- As a side note we have only dismantled cars that have no real hope of ever being road worthy again , the cars have been in accidents/ abandoned / partly stripped or rusty buckets.
