('70 Notch, carb, AT) This is happening because different material expand and contract with temp changes at different rates. Failing odometers are VERY common with the later speedometers that have the trip odometers. The extra drag on the drive causes this. Yours will probably stop working completely pretty soon. I can fix these, but that's a long way to ship a speedo for repairs. You might want to check in Rome to see if there is a speedometer shop that will work on VDO speedometers.
