My 69 Square came with a set of those when I first got it. The first thing I
did was replace it with an oil bath version. VW went to a lot of trouble to
get it right. The little paper / foam versions draw a lot of heat from the
engine compartment versus the cool fresh air that the stock system uses. My
wife's Fastback uses the paper element version that Steve mentioned, but
finding filters for it is troublesome. :( I hope this helps.
