Front wheel drive offset is quite good for Type 3's with about an inch of adapter. I bought a Notch a while ago with a 2 litre Fiat engine in the back and adapters with 15 x 5.5 Toyota factory mags. The centres of the front wheels are exactly the same as standard, so the track width is not increased and therefore the steering and suspension components don't get hammered. Now, I know that a lot of you are against adapters, but that extra inch is valuable. I am intending to use a set of 16 x 7 ma wheels on my Fastback and the front wheel drive offset is perfect front and rear, with the adapter. Certainly 100 x 4 would open up a lot of options, but what is the real issue with adapters, in the experience of those who have used them? As I see it there are 2 types - the pressed steel ones like the Bugpak 5 stud to 5 stud GM or Ford and the solid type like the Porsche adapters. Which are better?
