I'd expect the VIN to start with 369, but at any rate, the 9 means 1969.

Yes, sounds like a 69. Yes, much simpler. You'd still have to modify the pan 
and the tunnel, and you should take a GOOD look at the rear subframes because 
somewhere in the back of my mind I'm thinking there was some difference between 
MT and AT subframes, at least in the early years of IRS.  

You'll have to swap the pedal clusters, too, but that's simple.

Make sure the AT is good before you go to a lot of trouble, and make sure that 
it has its proper level of both ATF and GL-5.
