If the part that rivets to the frame is broken, you will need to remove the
glass and rivets to replace it.  Worth doing on a rare part, but I would expect
you can get another vent wing more easily.  I've done the job on a Beetle
(locking button style) - it worked but it took some care and time.

(Per; I think the pin holding the knob is just a plain pin rather than a split
pin).
