Thanks, both you and Daniel have confirmed that VDO did this the easy way, by just changing the gearing. 100km seems like awfully low mileage for the odo to roll over on, however. I still wish they had used one more digit for both miles and km's. As far as the 160km/hr goes, I think the type 3 speedos have always gone a little higher than those that came with the beetles.
