[T3] FW: This years Spring Maintenance

Well, after last Summers trip across the country to Parma the Square was
due for a tuneup this spring.

Compression is still between 115 and 125 on all the cylinders at 86K miles,
a happy engine! Ive just got to stop peering at my oil pressure gauge, 12
or 13 pounds less than when it was new is probably much to be expected by
now, and Ive never seen a flickering light even at the lowest of hot idles.
I had to adjust a little play out of the front stabilizer this year... been
a very long time since Ive touched that... and Uh Oh, woops! there goes
another bump stop! Been over 10 years since that car has seen salt and
there is still some eating away at it in places UGH! I also found some
peeling undercoating under a headlight bucket.

Ive come to realize that Im probably 3-5 years, at present rate of use, from
having to dump alot of money and time into restoring it again. 5 years will
make 20 since I did the first major reconditioning... so that isnt bad at
all, but something to have to plan for. The engine is getting up there, the
tranney is shot and makes the whole car moan and groan whenever I drive it
now, it will need rear brakes by then, the battery will reach end of life in
3-5 years, as will all 4 tires. Whew! it all goes at once doesnt it...
and to throw just another item into the works I plan on a T4 conversion!

If anyone in the Northeast has a 2L motor core that they'd like to move, let
me know. It seems the plethera of rusted out roachy Busses for $50 has dried
up, and I may have to look more carefully for something to build.

Keith
