My generator light popped on this morning on the way to work. It is raining hard so I have not investigated yet. The light has always glowed a bit if I have my headlights on or the wipers or both. It glowed a bit brighter when I hit the brakes. It is still the original 6 volt system and this never seemed to be a problem. I have recently replaced the brushes and did have to file them down a bit to get them to fit in the holders without hanging up. So this morning I am driving to work with the lights on and I pull up to a stoplight...as soon as I hit the brake pedal, the generator lights pops on full bright. It did not go off when I released the brakes and turned off my headlights. Stayed on over the few remaining blocks to work too. I will check the belt and brushes when the rain lets up. Anything else I should check? Just seemed so sudden and coincident with me hitting the brake pedal and adding more electrical load to the system, that I wondered if there was something else that it could be. TIA.
