[T3] LI Show Report & new FI guide (a little long)

Today was the "Three Bugs In A Barrel" show in
Medford, NY. I've been sick most of the week, but did
manage to get out for an hour or so to check out the
Type 3 representation here on Long Island.

The show is put on by the Long Island Volkswagen Club
(www.livc.net) and it was probably one of the most
pleasant shows I've been to in a while. Cars were
parked on grass, food was cheap (bottle of water was
$1, not bad), and everyone seemed to be having a
pretty laid-back time. There were about ten Type 2's,
three or four buggies, one Thing, maybe 20-30 Type 1
bugs, and I think three Type 1 Ghias. Also, right in
front as you came in were three very nice Type 3's.

The first was a '72 or '73 Squareback with zero rust
on it. Automatic, wooden wolfsburg shift knob, custom
upholstery. Very clean. Couldn't find the owner.

Second was an amazingly clean and completely original
ONE owner 1972 fastback w/original dealer A/C. This
car hasn't seen rain in years according to its owner,
Stefan, a nice guy from Queens who has no internet
access. :) He said the wheel covers were from the
dealer as well. He even had the original sales receipt
in the back window.

Third was a '68 Square that had been stripped of its
FI (and fuel filter put in the engine compartment).
You might have seen it for sale on the Samba. Owner
Matt brought the car from the west a while ago and
wants $6500 for it.

I'm glad I went, if just to see that clean fastback! I
should have more pics on my website within a day or
two.

On another note, seeing as how I've been sick I
haven't worked on my car for the past week, so I spent
my spare time condensing the relevant parts of Glenn's
Fuel Injection book (generously lent to me by my
brother-in-law) into a PDF booklet for us Type 3/4
owners. It's a little different from the other PDF one
out there, so it's a supplement, not intended to be a
replacement. :)

It's at the top of the page at:

Cheers!
Aaron
