I am not sure if you have taken one apart before, but there is a small rubber round seal piece with an indent in it for the 'pin' on the back of the squirter button. This was a reasonably tight fit in the opening that it goes in, but looked like it might have been glued / sealed onto the housing originally. I think that it probably broke down after time, and start to leak. Both my cars washer systems weren't operational when I got them, so I suppose having a long period without water in them could dry things up or something.
