It was an odd-jobs weekend on the Type 34. Now that the engine is running again, and I can't do the next big jobs until my friend has time to come over and help, and sorted out some things which I've been meaning to do for ages and never got round to doing. - I installed the main rubber weather strip behind the front windows. - I rebuilt a chewed-up wiper shaft with epoxy putty. Not only can I now put both wipers on at the right angle., they actually seem to work properly for the first time since I got the car. - I removed both door handles and lock barrels. Replaced both lock barrels and the handle seals. I was under the mistaken impression that I'd bought new lock barrel seals too, but in the end I reused one, and replaced a missing one with a home-made one. The outcome is that I can now lock the driver's door with the key for the first time. Unfortunately I can only unlock it from the inside, so there seems to be something wrong with the lock itself. Remember this is a Type 34 and these are Type 34 specific parts, so they probably work differently to the regular Type 3. Overall a pretty successful weekend.
