Good evening to everybody. I spent the afternoon trying to piece the parts in my garage into some semblance of an organized assembly line. I was trying to loosen the tank spigot to replace the filter when I encountered this: "http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/waltee@prodigy.net/lst?.dir=/Notchback+pics"; I had sealed the tank about 10 years ago after having it boiled out. The sealer was a commercially available product specifically for gas tanks. All it has appeared to have done is to trap the rust behind a chemical seal where it festered. The tank has been out of the car for about a year, the tank has been emptied and sealed and stored in my garage ever since. I am hoping to get it cleaned again, although state regulations are so strict now that most radiator shops won't touch it. I believe that Jim Adney had recommended in the past to not seal your tank, well here's your proof. I'll try another product from a different company, a cleaner/etching type solution, but I'd be willing to say that sealing did more harm than good. David Walters '73 1600 L Notchback S.
