It sounds like you have read and understood all the concerns about AC on these cars. I'm one of those people who dislike it, but there are others who think it can be made useful and functional. I like a lot of your ideas and it's clear that you've already put a lot of thought into this. Shad Laws is one of the people on this list who has done much of this successfully. I wonder if he has any pictures of his installations. One thing I would advise is that you try to mount the compressor off the right head. I think the compressor mounts that we got in the US mounted off the exhaust port studs for the # 2 cylinder. This avoids problems with the fan housing coming loose, which is enough of a problem already. I don't think I would try to move the generator since it is already nicely located, and its mount provides air cooling up from below. Our dealer installed AC condensors were installed under the front of the car, in front of the front axle. This really isn't a bad location, and I'd rather see it there than to move the spare tire and lose the use of the trunk. I don't know that we have anyone else who has experimented with propane fuel. Is your car carbs or fuel injected? I suspect carbs, but the FI might be interesting to see if it could be adapted directly. I've mentioned that in past years, but I don't know if anyone has actually tried it. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
