It's quite possible that in the end, it is me. Like I said, they're old
frames with new rubber and old glass and only my second (read: "first
successful") attempt at assembling popouts (lots of dishsoap, as many
bad words, and 2 or 3 bloody knuckles later). I won't know until later
if I can take up a 2nd career as an auto restorer, right now-I wouldn't
quit the day job.

I had a chance to and didn't think to do it while the windows were
undone. Both sets are finished now and I doubt I could dis-and then
re-assemble them without losing my sanity.

Yes they do, it is my understanding that the difference lies entirely in
the frame and hinge portion, not in the glass or body. Those that say
they know the difference between early and late model popouts (and
conveniently offered to sell me the "late" popouts for mucho spondulix)
said there was a difference, I have to go on faith on this one, I really
haven't a clue.

Like I'd heard, it's all in the frame. I only have the one set of
popouts, I was told they are "early" and the one window that I'd tried
in the '73 was just enough of problem that I can say that it's either a
different hinge, a warped frame, too early to tell, or maybe someone
just saw me coming. AAR, I'll keep everyone posted, we're almost there.
