I think what the seller means is it was privately imported rather than sold at a US VW dealer. The back lid says 'Variant S' on it. My dad had one just like this, same color even, when I had just got out of high school. He bought it, while living in Alabama, from a coworker who had bought it in Germany while in the service I believe. I rebuilt the motor on it, he drove it for a few years and then sold it before he moved back up north. I still have some of the paperwork on it, wish we still had the car. It was really sweet. My first Type III experience, ah, memories!! I hope that is a typo! Imported from Europe, does that make it magical? Especially, since most of our cars were imported from Europe ;) ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
