First you have to make sure that your engine is actually warming up, so the thermostat, etc all needs to be there, working, and adjusted. If this is all correct, then pull off the feed line to the AAR when the engine is warm and close it off with your thumb. The idle speed should not change appreciably. If you can just feel some vacuum with your thumb that is completely normal. If the idle speed changes when you block off this hose with your thumb (when the engine is fully warmed up--best tested after a nice drive), then you're right, the AAR is not closing fully. You can take it out and adjust the valve to close sooner. The adjustment will be obvious once you get it out. You should also check it to make sure its shaft is not binding. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
