I thought they had the compensation, but I must be wrong. I thought I 
remembered them in there on some 914s I worked on.

So the type 4 changed rotors in 72 also? What was the difference?

Agreed. I'll bet the water cooled calipers would have much bigger pistons to go 
with the much larger load on the front wheels, but I know that their rear 
brakes are tiny, so that might be the only adjustment they made.

Little point in debating it, however, when we should just look it up....  ;-)
