<x-flowed> >It's certainly poisonous in concentrated form, but when diluted somewhat it is biodegradable. I don't know if it might create a problem for a home septic system, but it's fine for a municipal sewage disposal plant. It doesn't just get diluted there, it gets digested. ;-)<
We have problem here in Portland (and likely in other cities) that when it rains heavily the combined sewage and water cannot be processed fast enough. That means the brake fluid and anti-freeze (and sewage) go into the river. The city is spending millions trying to separate the two, they paid me $50 a downspout to disconnect my gutters from the sewer! I can't think of a good reason not to take all hazardous material to your neighborhood NAPA, AutoZone or municipal waste center for free and proper disposal. How many people have buried their oil changes in the back yard saying "it gets diluted"?
