Hi all, I got the rattle fixed today, and I think it was lucky that I did. All of the bolts were only held in by a couple of threads and about to drop out. I decided not to tap the case out for longer bolts because I couldn't really see the threads with the engine installed, and I didn't want to wreck the case. I loctited and siliconed them in, and the star washers were also still there so hopefully it will hold. After it was all back together, I looked carefully for a oil leak while the engine was running, but couldn't see any visible leaks. I did notice that there was some oil sitting where the metal is pressed around the plastic on the oil pressure switch, so I will get a new one of those tomorrow. Also, I noticed tiny bubbles of oil around the fuel pump shaft, no oil actually came out, but it was a bit strange that it was bubbling there. Oil shouldn't be coming up that far anyway should it? Anyway, getting the rattle fixed is good because that was bugging me.
