Well, I guess at this point if I get 10-20K miles out of it I'll be happy... I've decided against the bottom-end rebuild for now, and this head is part of the reason. I'm going to try to get everything back together with a new top-end and hopefully that will be good for the rest of the summer. Hopefully around this time next year we'll be in a house (with a GARAGE!) and I can get cracking on getting my original heads reconditioned... I was looking at the left head on the engine I picked up for $50 and it too had a non-VW head for that side (with sensor socket)...
