John- I tried BUG CITY-he said he didn't have any. John if you could keep an eye out for them at the show I would appreciate it. I was hoping to go, but with it being Father's day, I am going to spend some time with my dad. ********** Jim- you wrote: I usually find that if the joint is tight I can't get it apart anyway. I have to destroy the muffler to get them off. So you should only fix what is needy and let nurse as much life out of your muffler as you can. ************ the situation i have is-the passenger side is loose(so I imagine, as per Russ's observation, that any gasket I may have had in there is destroyed). I am unable to thread it back on, as the threads don't line up properly. The driver side seems tight. To remedy this situation, I think I have to take the whole muffler off. Will doing this destroy the muffler? Perhaps I should just go the route of buying the type 4 gasket you are all referring to. Does anyone have the part number for this? I don't have any books on the type 4. Speaking of books, why does the bentley manual only cover the fastback and squareback, I thought the notchback would be in the same book. -kevin somerville, ma '65 kombi '71 sqbk ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
