Rear Fastback (Notch too I assume) trunk still on left-hand B-post (left is left
looking forwards). Front trunk release is also on the left side, in the
glovebox from 1970.
I was putting an alarm in the Variant - used the hole alongside the VIN plate on
the front panel to save drilling, and realised it was one of a pair that matched
the ones the other side (left-hand side of car) which held the clip for the
outer of the release cable.

Did any markets use a front trunk release running along the right of the car?
(ie passenger side for LHD, driver's side for RHD?). Our '89 Jetta has it that
side.
