I tend to think first in terms of "what will stop me stone
cold dead if I don't have it, and is really hard to get in the middle
of nowhere." Fuel injection and ignition parts are tops for me. I
also like to have spare hoses and electrical wire.
You can also pack spare brake shoes and pads, but you should
really check/replace before the trip if necessary.
Hmm,that makes me stop and think: what have I actually had
to repair/replace on my Type III while on a trip? Hmm... generator
brushes in Nebraska, a distributor in Idaho... I think that's about
it.
Now, Keith Park will tell you to pack a spare rear torsion
bar, but that's Keith. ;)
