Re: [T3] Fuel to Carb Conversion ?

<x-flowed>Hi all:

I've had this Squareback Since 1990 and It was Fuel Injected up until a engine swap in December 1995.
The Engine swap came with an after-market Solex-kit in place and working. I've always missed the performance of the stock FI. I've juust done a Weber ict Conversion, thinking now that I should have gone to a stock T3 set-up. I needed only the stock manifolds, carbs rebushed and change to 12 volt chokes.

There are two versions of the ict manifolds that I've seen; with a cable linkage the manifolds have vacuum ports, I'm not sure if the carbs are facing in the same direction. If you get a newer kit with a crossbar-linkage then the manifolds will need to be drilled and tapped for vacuum ports.

I got lucky in that the Manifolds I had on the car had the vacuum ports and the icts were a bolt up, I did need to clearance the cooling tin at the oil cooler. A light touch with a ball-peen hammer, does the trick. With the fuel pump I'm using I needed to move the fuel filter out of the way of the throttle arm.
You'll need to tap the second cross-linkage mounting-bracket hole in each carb and shorten the mounting bolts for those holes or use washers to get the bolts to go deep enough to tighten against the linkage mounting-bracket. To get the throttle arm to tighten against the crossbar I cut a slot through the top of the throttle-arm.

Don't need to loosen one manifold to get the crossbar in: JUST LOOSEN THE FRONT BRACKET MOUNTING BOLT AND TAKE THE REAR BRACKET MOUNTING BOLT OUT TO SWING THE BRACKET AWAY FROM THE CROSSBAR.

There is clearance for a crankcase breather elbow but, you'll need to make a hole in the air cleaner for it.
Car runs great but, I'll aways miss the fuel injection. If I ever have to do another automatic I'll go with the stock-carb set-up, Nothing fits like factory. The oil-bath aircleaner fits so well.
