Well, I'd love to have the chromed 8 spoke as my polished ones need to be
repolished every year (they were polished when I bought them). I think they all
start out as a raw finish, and then get machined to finish size and style, and
then are ground on the spokes (to remove the casting flash and rough finish)
before polishing. If they were chromed, then I could just do a quick clean up
on them. I think if they were polished first, then cleared they might stay
nice looking, but I don't know if the clear would yellow or peel. Maybe if they
were powder coated with clear they would stay nice looking. If I were buying
them new I'd get the chromed version and save the extra work of polishing every
year. I hope this is what you wanted to know.
