Okay, this is a B brain which superceeded the A and is good for all 68-9 type 3 FI cars. It's interesting that I've never seen that exchange part sticker before, but I suspect that it's a pretty standard thing. There were some problems with the A brain, so I believe VW replaced a LOT of them with the Bs. [my '68 (VIN = 368 117 575) came with an A, but I swapped in a B eventually.] > > This usually means that your ignition switch needs to be replaced. > > What year do you have? > > 1968, delivered in Feb 68. Know any good sources for these? There was someone selling these on ebay for awhile. You might watch there, or check your wiring for loose connections first. > Last night I put a new connector on the radio antenna, finishing the AM > radio reinstall, pulled both left wheels and checked those brakes. Even El Cheapos tend to work fine. The only pads I've ever had which I really didn't care for were some rivited pads from JCWhitney. Those tended to wear grooves in the rotors. I have most parts that you might need if you can't find them closer. I have a good stock of GOOD early pads right now. > Oh, also figured out that someone had put a 21W lamp in the tail light, > thereby melting the inside of the lens <sigh>.
