The Bosch FI tester plugs into the FI harness in place of the brain. It's actually got a double sided connector so that you can disconnect the brain and then reconnect it on the other side of the connector. For some tests you have only the tester connected to the harness, for others you have the brain/tester/harness all connected together. None of the FI tests use the "test network" connector. This was called the "Computer Diagnosis" plug in those days. It was used to test other things that were more likely to need attention in the course of a tune-up. I don't know who make the testers that plugged into these.
