By two-stage, do you mean basecoat (colour) and clear (lacquer)? If deep sea green is your choice, I'm not sure it was a metallic, so a normal 2-pack paint would be fine. I doubt if you have already masked up the car for painting, the extra cost for the clear-coat would amount to much. The disadvantage is it can look too shiny, and if the clear-coat peels off around stone chips or whatever, it can be harder to get it looking good again. I've a webpage of the Type 3 colours (as best I can match, but it depends a bit on the monitor and my memory) http://www.hallvw.clara.co.uk/vwpaint.htm , but deep green is so rare that you may find it as sensible to choose a more recent colour that you like. Some of the newer VW colours include dark greens. Green and off-white go quite well together - many green Type 3s were supplied with off-white interiors (trim. seats etc), mine included. Dave.
