I had the problem once more, on Saturday, just as I was trying to leave town for a weekend vacation. Haven't had the problem since. Starts up fine. I'll take note of that relay workaround though. Maybe it wasn't sparking, but this is such an inconsistent occurrence (and has only ever happened after short trips in warm humid weather) that I don't know where to look when it does happen if all the ignition stuff appears ok.
