Any of these things can be added to a different year if you want to hard enough. > I didn't know that VW went to another mounting later so adding the > support would probably be stupid on this car. The later mounting came with the IRS suspension, which means that you get 4 CV joints instead of the older swing axle transmission. > Thanks for the info and making me figure out what I've got! It appears that you've got a mosaic, made up from parts from various years. The VIN should appear in 3-4 places: on a silver plate in the trunk, on a silver decal in the driver's side door jamb, on top of the tunnel under the back seat (this is the OFFICIAL one) and on a plate riveted to the dash (later years only.) What do you find when you look at these places? The year is the third digit in the VIN. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
